VANCOUVER’S DANCEHOUSE has announced the return of a powerhouse duo of shows to open its 15th anniversary season this fall.

The acclaimed Batsheva-trained U.K. troupe Hofesh Shechter Company hits the Vancouver Playhouse October 21 and 22, while La La La Human Steps alumna Louise Lecavalier hits the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre at SFU Woodward’s in the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts November 23 to 26.

Shechter will bring his double bill, dubbed “Double Murder”, here: Clowns, a darkly comedic nod to society’s indifference to violence—a show originally created for Nederlands Dans Theater and later produced as a much-lauded film and broadcast by the BBC; and The Fix, a much more tender exploration of hope and human fragility in response to the global pandemic. The Israeli-born artist was last here with DanceHouse in 2015 with barbarians.

Montreal sensation Lecavalier, meanwhile, arrives with her fiery solo Stations, produced under her company banner Fou Glorieux. The ever-magnetic, platinum-haired dance icon has appeared here with DanceHouse over the years, both with La La La Human Steps and her own work.

Tickets are available now at dancehouse.ca/, with more shows for the rest of the season yet to be announced.
