Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein is coming to Just For Laughs Vancouver 2024
The breakthrough British creative plays Roy Kent in the comedy series that earned 21 Emmy nominations this year, leading the pack
YOU KNOW HIM as the gruff but tender-at-heart football (soccer) player from Ted Lasso: Brett Goldstein is the show’s co-executive producer, writer, and star, earning fans and critical acclaim on both sides of the pond. Just for Laughs Vancouver has just announced that he’ll be coming to the festival for a performance on February 16 at 7:30 pm at Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
And as JFL Vancouver puts it: There will be swears. Children under age 15 are not permitted. His tour is called The Second Best Night of Your Life.
Tickets go on sale on December 15 at 10 am at jflvancouver.com.
As the foul-mouthed Roy Kent on the Peabody-winning Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso, Goldstein has won two Primetime Emmy awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy, making him the category’s first back-to-back winner in almost 15 years. The breakthrough British multihyphenate’s series is leading this year’s pack for the most Emmy nominations, with 21.
He also earned a 2022 Writers Guild of America Award nomination as part of the show’s writing team, having won twice the year prior.
Goldstein is also the creator and executive producer of the comedy Shrinking alongside Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence, which has been renewed for a second season by Apple TV+. With Will Bridges, he created and executive-produced the AMC limited anthology series Soulmates. And he is the host of the iHeartRadio award-winning podcast Films To Be Buried With, which finds him in candid conversation with special guests as they talk about the films that have shaped them.
JFL Vancouver also announced extra shows for Ronny Chieng and Bassem Youssef due to popular demand.
