Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents Elf in Concert, December 21 and 22 at 7:30 pm at the Orpheum
ELF THE MOVIE is back in full orchestral glory with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presenting Elf in Concert as part of its holiday offerings.
The film starring Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel first came out in 2003, with Buddy the Elf visiting New York City in full North Pole garb right down to his pointy-toed boots to find his real father.
The live musical accompaniment of composer John Debney’s score is part of the organization’s Movie Nights with the VSO series. It’s a rare chance to see the hit film on the big screen set to live music.
Among the songs are “A Stroll With Buddy”, “Attack of the Little People”, “Buddy and Santa’s Flight”, “Weird Wonderland” and “Spaghetti and Syrup”.
Debney is also responsible for the scores for The Princess Diaries and The Jungle Book, among others.
The VSO is collecting personal care items at all December concerts to support Covenant House and local youth. People can visit the Symphony of Giving display in the lobby to drop off donations.
