Choreographer Bengt Jörgen reimagines the timeless fairy tale set to Tchaikovsky’s original 1890 score

Ballet Jörgen’s Sleeping Beauty.
Experience the timeless romance of Ballet Jörgen’s Sleeping Beauty, set to the music of Tchaikovsky with innovative choreography by Bengt Jörgen, at the Massey Theatre on February 8 at 4 pm and 6 pm.
Ballet Jörgen premiered its unique rendition of Sleeping Beauty, one of the world’s most famous classical ballets, during the 2015-16 season. The company’s artistic director and award-winning choreographer Jörgen has drawn on the traditional choreography by Marius Petipa to create a production that will inspire audiences of all ages.
Sleeping Beauty tells the enchanting story of Aurora, a young woman who is placed under a spell to sleep for 100 years, only to be awakened by the kiss of a prince. The fairy-tale dance production features Tchaikovsky’s original 1890 score and is set to a libretto based on Charles Perrault’s story “La Belle au bois dormant”.
