The Vancouver Turkish Film Festival (VTFF), which started as a volunteer effort under the Turkish-Canadian Society in 2011, has become the leading cultural activity of the Society and one of the most successful and well-received ethnic film festivals in Vancouver.

Founded in 2011 by a group of local film enthusiasts, the Vancouver Turkish Film Festival (VTFF) has partnered with SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs for the past five years to present thought-provoking cinema accompanied by informed public discourse.

SFUW and VTFF bring audiences into the world of radically human, emotionally charged stories showcasing the best of Turkish cinema. SFUW is a welcoming space to host critical, honest conversation around challenging cultural and contemporary topics. Through partnership, they’ve been able to widen the conversation.

The Vancouver Turkish Film Festival runs November 17 to 20 this year, with screenings at SFU Woodward’s Goldcorp Centre for the Arts happening on November 19 and 20.

In the latest episode of SFU Woodward’s Cultural Programs’ ArtScape podcast, producer Janice Beley speaks with Vancouver Turkish Film Festival organizers about the organization’s journey, this year’s fest, and what’s in store.
