VANCOUVER-BASED CABARET comedian Shirley Gnome is releasing a new EP to help people get through the pandemic with some raunchy, tuneful humour.

The self-described “sing song ding dong” is a sex-positive performer and a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ2SAI+ community. Dropping on February 12, her EP Quantity Time (Comedy Here Often?) touches on pandemic-related topics such as how masks are like condoms for your face and fantasies of a sex toy coming to life while stuck at home during lockdown.

Obscene, subversive, shocking, hilarious, over-the-top, irreverent, and sexy are among the terms that have been used to describe her style.

After winning Patrick Maliha’s “the People’s Champ of Comedy” in 2012, Gnome has sold out venues across North America, Australia, and New Zealand. She received rave reviews after performing at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and closed out an all-woman showcase at the 2017 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. That year, “the Glitter Song”, her party anthem, went viral.

In 2018, Gnome’s fourth album, Taking it Up the Notch, was nominated for Best Comedy Album at the Canadian Comedy Awards. It and her follow-up, Decoxification, went to top spot on the iTunes Comedy charts in Canada.

Having recently amassed more than 1.5 million view on Tik Tok with the first two videos she uploaded, Gnome has officially made it.

Comedy Here Often? is the comedy label imprint of 604 Records.
