Temporary Steps dances outdoors into an uncertain autumn, with new music by Leslie Uyeda, September 5
Little Chamber show at Celebration Hall features eight musicians and choreography by Ted Littlemore
Little Chamber Music presents Temporary Steps from 2 to 5 pm outside Celebration Hall at Mountain View Cemetery.
LITTLE CHAMBER MUSIC set out to throw a celebration on the Labour Day weekend, marking the end of COVID restrictions.
As we all know by now, the wide reopening of the arts is not quite ready to happen on schedule, with infections rising and an uncertain fall ahead.
And so it is that the aptly named Temporary Steps at least offers some uplift in a safe outdoor setting. The free performances feature a new 10-minute work by composer-conductor Leslie Uyeda: titled A Dance For All Of Us, it blends a string quartet, double bass, clarinet, and two flutes.
Moving to the music will be choreographer Ted Littlemore’s large-scale team of performers: he and Ellie Bishop, Eowynn Enquist, Isak Enquist, and Brenna Metzmeier created videos for the Mountain View Community Dancers to learn the piece at home.
It's a chance to see and hear bodies and notes moving through space--even when pandemic holdups are making it feel like we're standing still.
