Association of Book Publishers of BC releases the top 20 titles from 2020

THE RESULTS ARE in: The Association of Book Publishers of BC (ABPBC) has released its top 20 bestselling B.C. books of 2020.

The BC Bestseller List is derived from 2020 sales data via TBM BookManager from more than 80 independent bookstores throughout the province.

Victoria-based conservation photographer Cheryl Alexander’s Takaya: Lone Wolf (RMB | Rocky Mountain Books) topped the list. For several years, Alexander studied the wild animal on Discovery and Chatham islands, developing a deep connection while documenting his life through journal entries and photos.

Raven Squawk, Orca Squeak (Harbour Publishing) by Robert Budd, with illustrations by Roy Henry Vickers, came in second, while Eve Lazarus’s Vancouver Exposed: Searching for the City’s Hidden History (Arsenal Pulp Press) ranked third.

The most popular titles also include Eric Walters’s pandemic-themed children’s book, Don’t Stand So Close to Me (Orca Book Publishers); Bruce Kirkby’s travel memoir, Blue Sky Kingdom: An Epic Family Journey to the Heart of the Himalaya (Douglas & McIntyre); Bisous and Brioche: Classic French Recipes and Family Favorites from a Life in France by Laura Bradbury and Rebecca Wellman (TouchWood Editions); and Balancing Bountiful: What I Learned about Feminism from My Polygamist Grandmothers by Mary Jayne Blackmore (Caitlin Press).
