Christine Jensen brings big-band grandeur to BlueShore at CapU, February 28
Saxophonist-composer draws inspiration from her B.C. upbringing for performance with CapU Jazz Studies students and faculty members

Christine Jensen.
Saxophonist-composer Christine Jensen is set to conjure tuneful, musical grandeur as she leads dozens of CapU Jazz Studies students and faculty members such as Brad Turner and others, at BlueShore at CapU on February 28 at 7:30 pm.
The B.C.-born, Montreal-based artist’s two previous big-band releases, 2010’s Treelines and 2013’s Habitat, each garnered Juno Award wins. Now, Jensen is performing music from her latest orchestral album, Harbour, which was inspired by her upbringing on the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island, and the Lower Mainland.
Writes Jensen of the upcoming show: “I’m looking forward to making music with some of my oldest and dearest friends from the West Coast jazz scene [CapU Jazz Studies faculty members] as well as connecting with students, who are growing up and developing their musical personalities in the same environment that has inspired me as a composer and improviser.”
Tickets are available through BlueShore at CapU.
