Just For Laughs Vancouver postpones comedy fest due to extended COVID restrictions in BC
Trevor Noah: Back To Abnormal World Tour at Rogers Arena February 26 will proceed at 50 percent capacity
IN THE WAKE of BC health officials’ announcement that it’s extending audience limits into February, Just For Laughs Vancouver has announced its “difficult decision” to postpone the comedy fest scheduled to take place from February 15 through 27.
The event has said the scope and size of the fest makes it implausible to operate at 50-percent capacity in most venues. The province has extended all the restrictions on theatres at least until February 16, when they will be reviewed.
The live in-person festival was cancelled altogether in 2021.
Details regarding the rescheduling of this year’s festival, will be provided in the coming weeks. JFL Vancouver has committed to maintaining as much of the announced lineup as possible, and is encouraging patrons to hold onto their tickets for new dates.
The event’s biggest show, Trevor Noah: Back To Abnormal World Tour, will still take place at Rogers Arena on February 26 with the province’s reduced capacity at 50 percent. Further information will be provided in the coming weeks.
Just For Laughs Vancouver had only recently changed its name from JFL NorthWest, announcing such acts as comedian Andrew Schulz at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre on February 26; John Mulaney with two shows of his From Scratch to the Q.E. on February 15; The Daily Show With Trevor Noah correspondents Ronny Chieng and Roy Wood in separate shows at the same venue February 25. The Vogue Theatre was to host acts like Marc Maron and Nicole Byer while the Rio Theatre was on deck with SNL alumni Chris Redd and Janeane Garofalo, and more.
