Pride Picnic yields baskets to unpack on Parade day in Vancouver
The Lazy Gourmet is creating food bundles to go for Vancouver Pride Festival to celebrate at home, at a park, or anywhere else your bubble cares to connect

VanPrideFest’s Pride Picnic takes place August 1 at Jonathan Rogers Park (sold out) and via livestream.
IN KEEPING WITH the times, Vancouver Pride Society’s 2021 season is unfolding both IRL and online. The August 1 Decentralized Pride Parade, which will be livestreamed, calls for participation in a #ChooseYourPride format: maybe it’s donning your finest Pride gear and going for lunch on a sunny patio or marching down the street with your bubble buddies, flags a-waving.
Spots for the Pride Picnic at Jonathan Rogers Park were limited due to ever-shifting health regulations and have already been snapped up, but the party is packable: the Lazy Gourmet is putting together a selection of picnic baskets to celebrate.
The On the Go Picnic Basket comes with a Rainbow Sandwich (with purple cabbage, romaine, avocado, yellow peppers, shredded carrots, roasted red peppers, salami, and feta dill sauce) and a Rainbow Sugar Cookie. (It’s $15 and feeds one to two people.)
If grazing is more your style, the Snack Box for two has Chicago Mix Popcorn, house-made potato chips with caramelized onion dip, mini croissant sandwiches with grilled veggies and goat cheese, and a Rainbow Sugar Cookie ($20).
Cheese and Charcuterie ($25 for one to two people) is a selection of local cheeses and cured meats, mustards, sun-dried tomato aioli, crackers, and breads. For something sweet, there’s the Lazy Gourmet’s white-chocolate Unicorn dipped pretzel sticks.
Order deadline is July 28 for pick-up July 30 or 31 or August 1.
While you’re noshing, VanPrideFest encourages people to upload their Pride photos or videos to social media for the chance to be featured live in the parade broadcast.
