The Cinematheque announces it's opening its doors to live screenings again on June 17
The film house is celebrating with the visual wonders of In the Mood for Love, 81/2, and Tokyo Story
THE CINEMATHEQUE IS REOPENING on June 17 after a long pandemic closure in style. It will celebrate the return of live screenings with a trio of masterworks: Wong Kar-Wai’s In the Mood for Love, Federico Fellini’s 8½, and Yasujiro Ozu’s Tokyo Story.
More titles from the Hong Kong and Italian legends will follow in late June and July. It was part of programming long postponed due to the theatre’s closure during COVID.

Tickets will go on sale once the transition to Step 2 of BC’s Restart plan, slated for June 15, has been confirmed. Seating will be limited and spaced throughout the theatre to allow for social distancing.
The comprehensive set of protocols, developed during the period when the theatre was able to reopen last year, are in place and available to read here.
