Vancouver Bach Choir presents SummerSing on May 14 at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts

A CHORUS OF conductors will alternate at the podium for Vancouver Bach Choir’s SummerSing—a mix of exuberant jazz, rock ‘n’ roll, and more to celebrate the return of warm weather.

The entire Vancouver Bach Family of Choirs is on deck for the show, with their well-known maestro Leslie Dala taking the baton. But he’ll also be joined by multitalented conductors such as Marisa Gaetanne (music director of the Vancouver Bach Children’s Chorus and a member of the voice faculty at the UBC School of Music), Cathrie Yuen (the choir’s assistant conductor, as well as associate conductor of the Trinity Western University Choral Program), Catherine Campolin (a choral director at the Vancouver Bach Children's Chorus and opera singer in her own rite), and Shane Raman (Youth Choir and Sarabande conductor at VBC, as well as a baritone who sings with musica intima and Cor Flammae).

A rotating series of guests will take the piano for the fun-filled concert, including Stephen Smith, Kin Ming Wong, Aslan Aslanov, Shifra Day, and Esther Chun.

It’s a chance for the choir and its children’s choir to let loose on repertoire outside of the usual classical arrangements—yet bring their serious chops to the full-on singing.
