Vines Art Festival 2022 is pleased to present Our Bodies, A Shoreline.

The free, multidisciplinary event takes place August 9 at 6 pm at X̱epx̱páy̓em/Hadden Park, with ASL interpretation by Season Hunt and Vanessa Coley-Donohue.

The cartography of our bodies is a shoreline we determine, an expansive sureness between the shifting waters we hug. Our Bodies, A Shoreline grants us permission to see the many bodies our community has, moving in all the ways they want to: with joy and resistance.

Featuring poet D Fretter and Naomi Gracechild, Our Bodies, A Shoreline will be emceed by Sacha Ouellet.

Alyssa Favero and Jamie Ranney will share Rooted in Time, in which they will lead a group of dancers in an improvised score to strengthen their knowledge of the natural world.

Possibilities of belonging: a future that can hold a home by Faune Ybarra and Aakansha Ghosh is a performative installation that tries to expand on the conversation around migration and bonds of solidarity among racialized diasporas.

Jhoely Triana Flamenco’s Arboles (Trees) is a triptych of solos that revolve around the metaphor of trees to represent how we must honour our roots and gather strength from our past to reach new heights so that we can share our lived experiences with our community and spread the seeds of empathy and compassion.

Seema Mehra’s inclusive Language Banners are interactive installations that involve fest participants in the creation of the artwork, offering the possibility of free expression and social connection within the public domain.

Barangay Project will share a work-in-progress performance piece called Catch-22 directed by Filipina interdisciplinary artist Sophia Sosa.

Also performing at Our Bodies, A Shoreline are “blues cabaret” accordionist and chanteuse Ana Bon-Bon; Two-Spirit Nehiyaw (Cree) artist Erica Masuskapoe; and multifaceted artist Terreane Derrick. Senaqwila Wyss shares an opening welcome.
