Vancouver Black chefs offer Black History Month Specialty Box, to February 24
It features sweet and savoury goods by some of Vancouver’s Black-owned food businesses

SEVERAL OF VANCOUVER’S Black-owned ventures have teamed up to celebrate Black History Month through food. The Black History Month Specialty Box, a package of sweet and savoury goods, is available until February 24 and is all plant-based.
There’s Kula BBQ Ribz by Kula Kitchen, which makes Afro-centric vegan foods inspired by founder Asha Wheeldon’s native Kenya; Nigerian-style Pepper Sauce by Funmi Osatuyi’s Lagoschop; Tahini Sauce from Beetbox, cofounded by Justin Tisdall; and Rum Cake from Elbo Patties, Chris Boreland’s popular Jamaican-patties shop.
VanSuya’s Hibisberry is a Nigerian hibiscus-tea drink made from dried roselle plant flowers. Juicekadi Juice Co—founded by singer, songwriter, actor and director Makadi, aka King Kadi—makes craft organic cold-pressed juice containing sea moss.
The basket also includes Rich Sol Cocoa Sticks and Treats by Sabby’s Chocolate Bombs.
The Black History Month Specialty Box, $70, can be ordered via Kula Kitchen for delivery or pick-up at 1370 East Georgia Street.
