The O Show hits Indian Summer Festival, July 8
The artist-activist’s motto is “diversity makes beautiful music”
Indian Summer Festival presents The O Show: The Many Worlds of Orene Askew on July 8 from 8 to 10:30 pm at Performance Works
ORENE ASKEW, aka DJ O Show, is many things: a high-energy performer, a motivational speaker, a former member of Squamish Nation council, and a pillar of the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community. She is also a Two-Spirit Afro-Indigenous person who proudly represents the various communities she’s part of and passionate about and whose motto is “diversity makes beautiful music”.
This ISF presentation kicks off with a screening of The O Show, a 20-minute documentary on the artist and activist’s life and work directed by Sharad Kharè, which will be followed by Kharè and Askew live in conversation. Then DJ O Show will take to the stage, the night a celebration of storytelling, pride, and identity.
Tickets to the event and others at ISF are available on a sliding scale, with subsidized admission ($5), general admission ($25), and pay-it-forward admission ($45).
More information is at ISF.
