Prepare to be moved and inspired by Britten’s War Requiem as the VBFC Symphonic Choir presents the work at the Orpheum on April 5 at 7:30 pm.

Britten’s celebrated War Requiem is a choral cry for peace, resonating just as deeply today as when it was first performed in 1962. Its text includes the words of English war poet Wilfred Owen interspersed throughout the traditional Latin mass for the dead.

For this concert conducted by music director Leslie Dala, the VBFC Symphonic Choir and Vancouver Bach Children’s Chorus (composed of emerging young singers in Grades 8 to 12) will be joined by the West Coast Symphony. Three Canadian soloists will accompany them in breathing life into the work: soprano Melody Courage, tenor Asitha Tennekoon, and baritone Tyler Duncan.
