Dine Strathcona runs November 18 to 30.

DINE STRATHCONA’S SECOND annual event (November 18 to 30) is showcasing the community’s food and drink hot spots while raising funds to support vulnerable individuals in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Known last year as Dine Railtown, the effort by the Strathcona Business Improvement Association encompasses restaurants, cafés, and breweries throughout the greater Strathcona neighbourhood.

Participating venues will offer a feature dish, with $1 from each one ordered going to the WISH Drop-In Centre. The largest organization in Canada supporting street-based sex workers, it is the only drop-in centre in the region supporting those affected by poverty, homelessness, trauma, violence, stigma, and lack of access to supports, services, and opportunities. The organization serves meals, runs an emergency shelter, offers capacity-building programs, and more.

Here’s what places are involved and what’s on the menu: Ask for Luigi (Fried Cauliflower and Chickpeas); Axum Ethiopian Restaurant (Vegetarian Combo); Dosanko (Wild Mushroom Doria); LanaLou's Restaurant (Cheeseburger and Fries, with a veggie option); The Belgard Kitchen (Wagyu Bavette Steak); The Garden (Mushroom Bowl); VV Tapas Lounge (Warm Cauliflower Dip); Harken Coffee (Japanese Curry); HoliDrink Cafe (Pegobo Noodle and HoliDrink HoliEH Spicy Ginger); (Pallet Coffee Roasters (Grilled Cheese + any regular-sized beverage); Railtown Cafe (The Winter Kale); The Uncommon Cafe (Green Cheese & Yam Pizza); Container Brewing (Rarebit); Hastings Mill Brewing Company (Chicken Tacos); Luppolo Brewing Company (Funghi Pizza); Strathcona Beer Company (Margherita Pizza); and Superflux Beer Company (Roasted Cabbage with Beef and Duck Bolognese).

Restaurants taking part have extensive COVID-19 protocols in place; there are take-out and delivery options for those who’d prefer to dine at home. See Dine Strathcona for more information.
