Christmas and Holiday Lights on Granville Island, to January 3
Studios, food stalls, and restaurants open amid the glow
Christmas and Holiday Lights on Granville Island runs to January 3; closed December 25 and 26 and January 1.
HERE’S AN OPTION to see a holiday light display safely: take a stroll within your small bubble around the 40 acres that make up Granville Island.
Daily from sunset on, you’ll find an enormous star in vivid ever-shifting hues, shining musical notes in trees, a secluded alleyway of lanterns, and more, plus Granville Island’s giant yellow crane alight.
You can pop in and out of artist studios and shops and replenish at market stalls, restaurants, and bars.
Public Market food vendors are open till 6 pm, while many restaurants and bars stay open late. Standout spots include the new Popina Cantina in the Net Loft, sister restaurant to the shipping-container-plus-patio eatery Popina Canteen, famous for its tacos and puff creams and led by a crack team of top local chefs.
Check out Artisan Sake, with Japanese appetizers and sake tastings; Sandbar Restaurant, which has Happy Hour, a patio, and live music nightly; and Dockside at the Granville Island Hotel, which also has Happy Hour.
Find patios at Granville Island Brewery Tap Room, Kaisereck Delicatessen, Off the Tracks Bistro, Pedro’s Organic Coffee, and Vancouver Fish Co. There are bottle sales and cocktails at Liberty Distillery, and plenty of takeout options at places like Tony’s Fish and Oyster Café and Pizza Pzazz.
COVID-19 protocols and restrictions are in effect; the Public Market and Net Loft are closed December 25, 26, and January 1. See Granville Island for more info.
