Participants are invited to learn about the art of music supervision; how to work with a sync agent to get music before tastemakers in film, television, advertising and games; diversity in the music marketplace; and the technique of composing for the screen. VIFF encourages applications from people facing institutionalized barries—including those that have been marginalized based on sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, neurotype, disability, racialization, status as an Indigenous person, political belief, religion, marital or family status, low income or low economic status. Eligibility and details are here.

VIFF AMP bridges the strength of BC’s music sector with the film industry, offering career development, innovations, and inspiration. VIFF has just announced the lineup for its annual AMP Music in Film Summit, including multiplatinum record producer and Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Linda Perry and five-time Emmy winning composer Laura Karpman as the opening and closing keynote speakers.

Panel discussions, masterclasses, and networking opportunities will take place online and in-person from October 8 to 10; general admission VIFF AMP tickets & passes will go on sale August 26, when the full AMP summit program is announced. Watch for more info at viff.org.

Vancouver International Film Festival celebrates its 40th edition from October 1 to 11.
