Start the new year with a bang as the Vancouver Chamber Choir presents East / West 동과서 with guest conductor Dr. Hyejung Jun from the UBC School of Music. As the name suggests, the program combines Eastern music from Jun’s native Korea with more familiar music from the Western tradition (Eric Whitacre, James MacMillan, Bach, Brahms).
Jun will be joined by longtime Vancouver Chamber Choir collaborator Stephen Smith on piano and organ. Adding to the excitement are two guest choirs: the Magee Secondary School Chamber Choir under Greg Quan, and the annual FOCUS choir, which is composed of 31 local college and university music students who join the Vancouver Chamber Choir for an intensive, behind-the-scenes look at life as a professional singer.
Enjoy an evening of upbeat music and youthful energy at East / West 동과서 at Shaughnessy Heights United Church on January 25 at 7:30 pm.
More information is available through the Vancouver Chamber Choir.
